Fat Management! The Thermogenic Factor
Revolutionary Research Breakthrough That Restores Man's Natural Ability to Burn Unwanted Fat: Thermogenesis

by Daniel B. Mowrey, Ph.D. (copyright 1994)

[I highly recommend you get a copy of this book and read it for yourself to truly understand the conception and misconception of thermogenesis. It is well written in language both the layperson and medical professional can understand. The research is well documented with 1,441 references listed at the end of the book. - Ed.]

SUGGESTIONS, CAUTIONS, & OBSERVATIONS FOR USING A THERMOGENIC. (p. 21-23)

These suggestions are based on the assumption that the daily recommended dose is split equally between 3 capsules or tablets. These precautions aside, the use of a correctly formulated thermogenic appears to be free of serious risks. Following these suggestions and adapting them to your individual circumstances should maximize the effectiveness of thermogenic for you.

  1. Take with a large glass of water. This will help disperse the contents of the capsule or tablet in the stomach, and help prevent irritation and nausea, especially for first-time users.
  2. Take 1/2 hour before or after meals for maximum impact on stored fat. Thermogenesis appears to use up energy derived from food before it produces heat from calories derived from energy stores (as in fat). Allow sufficient time after meals to allow food to begin clearing from the stomach.
  3. Take with meals for maximum impact on dietary fat (i.e., to prevent it from being stored as fat). This is a simple corollary of suggestion number 2. This approach is especially appropriate during holidays when we are prone to eat more than we should of exactly those kinds of foods we should avoid.
  4. If any jitteriness or nervousness occurs, take with meals and a large glass of water. This will reduce the immediate impact on the body, smoothing out the action of the product. Nervous symptoms will usually disappear completely in a few days. Another approach is to consume a standard tablet of aspirin along with the thermogenic; however do not do this unless you are sure you are free from aspirin sensitivity.
  5. Also, to minimize impact, start the thermogenic program by taking just one capsule (or even 1/2 capsule) per day, in the morning, and one capsule around noon. Basically, each individual should find his or her own level of consumption, and adjust it from time to time to reflect changing body composition, adaptation, stress levels and so forth. There is no magic guideline that applies to every person. If you experience some discomfort at first, do not take this as a sign that you cannot use the product at all. Before giving up, try making some adjustments in dosage schedule, time of day, with or without meals, reduced dosage, taking it every other day, or even once a week. Feed your adrenals, clean your body and lower the amount of stress in your life.
  6. Do not use for stimulant purposes.
  7. If you begin with one capsule or tablet in the morning, increase amount consumed to 2 capsules in the morning and one around noon after 1 to 2 weeks.
  8. For best results, do not use after 3 PM. Most of the day's work is done by early evening. The thermogenic will have a tendency to keep you going later. Taking it after 3:00 may make you stay awake later than you desire at night.
  9. Use 5 days a week; reduce dose to one a day for 2 days a week, or, better still, do not use at all for 2 days per week. This allows the adrenals and nervous system to rebound.
  10. To avoid jitters, do not use with other caffeinated beverages, such as coffee, tea and colas. The extra caffeine obtained from these drinks may upset the delicate synergistic balance of the caffeine-ephedrine-aspirin combination in the thermogenic.
  11. If you are trying to stop smoking, a thermogenic can help prevent weight gain. Nicotine is itself a mild thermogenic agent. When people stop smoking, the absence of nicotine may depress thermogenesis, resulting in weight gain. The traditional gain in weight experienced by smokers who quit is normally attributed to an increased appetite for sweets. It is, more correctly, a defect in thermogenesis. Thermogenic will help restore thermogenesis in such instances.
  12. Aspirin-sensitive people should exercise caution in consuming a thermogenic. Although properly formulated thermogenics do not contain enough aspirin to cause a problem for most aspirin-sensitive persons, individuals with a known serious sensitivity would do well to avoid the use of such products except as directed by their health care professional.
  13. People with severe food allergies should exercise caution when consuming this product. As with all food products, there is always a chance that some people will be allergic to one of the constituents.
  14. Diabetics seem to do best on one capsule in the morning and one capsule at noon, 7 days a week. A reduced dosage has less impact on the adrenals and on glycogen metabolism. A 7-day-a-week program reduces the tendency for ups and downs in metabolic systems that might be upsetting to the diabetic.
  15. Constipation and/or aggravation of pre-existing benign prostatic hypertrophy may occur in some people. Use of a mild laxative will help offset constipation. Use of a compound for reducing the symptoms of BPH will help reduce the tendency of thermogenic to aggravate that condition.
  16. People with larger frames may be able to consume more than the recommended dose; on the other hand, persons with small frames and little fat may find it more effective to use fewer than the suggested number of capsules.
  17. Pregnant women, women attempting to become pregnant, and nursing mothers should not use the product as it may affect the health of the fetus or newborn infant.
  18. Some authorities believe that pre-puberty children should not use thermogenic on a long term basis because their nervous systems are still in the developmental stage.
  19. Persons using medications of any kind for any kind of health problem should consult with their doctor to obtain advice about possible interactions before using thermogenic. Not a great deal of work has been done on drug interactions with thermogenic. The key phrase to describe this product's mode of action is "mild sympathomimetic, buffered to produce minimal cardiovascular action."
  20. The product may induce a cleansing cycle in some people, especially smokers and coffee drinkers. The cycle is short-lived. Possible symptoms include moderate headaches, skin eruptions and nausea. This is different from allergic reactions which will be long-lived and will usually create more severe symptoms such as hives and rashes.
  21. Empirical data suggest that thermogenic has a mild anti-depressant action; persons currently using an anti-depressant drug should be aware of this factor.
